The Department of Classical Studies invites applications and nominations for an appointment at open rank, tenured or tenure-track, to begin September 2002. We seek a colleague with a specialty in papyrology, who would share responsibility for Duke's extensive papyrology collection and its facilities. Candidates are expected to teach a range of courses in Classical Studies at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants for a tenured appointment must have a distinguished record of research, as well as an excellent record of teaching at all levels; they should submit a letter of application, CV and list of references. Applicants for a tenure-track appointment must have completed the PhD at the time of appointment and show promise of excellence in research and teaching; they should submit a letter of application, CV, a sample of scholarly writing, and three letters of recommendation.
