ECKERD COLLEGE – ST. PETERSBURG, FL

Eckerd College invites applications for a part-time (5/7) position in Classics, to begin in the academic year 2011/12. The part-time position is renewable; additionally, the candidate may be eligible for a one-year, full-time Visiting appointment in AY 2012/13. Candidates must be able to teach both Latin and Greek languages and literature at all levels, as well as courses in Greek and Roman history, classical mythology, and women and gender in the ancient world. Eckerd offers an interdisciplinary major in Ancient Studies, and candidates with interdisciplinary interests and teaching experience are particularly welcome. Teaching load is 5 courses/year. The candidate will also be expected to serve on thesis and comprehensive exam committees. PhD in hand preferred although ABDs who will complete dissertations by September 2011 will also be considered.
