THE EPISCOPAL ACADEMY – MERION, PA
The Episcopal Academy invites applications for the Lounsbery Chair in Classics. The holder of the Lounsbery Chair is expected to teach both Greek and Latin, to provide scholarly and academic leadership to a department of six classicists, and to represent Classics and the department's program to the school and community. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellence in teaching, advanced fluency in both Greek and Latin, enthusiasm for teaching both languages to young people, good communication skills, and broad scholarly interests. A Ph.D. in some area of Classics is desirable, but candidates with equivalent training or demonstrated scholarship will be considered.

The Episcopal Academy is an independent, coeducational, K-12 day school currently located in Merion, PA. In 2008 the school will move to an entirely new, state-of-the-art campus in Newtown Square, 15 miles west of Philadelphia. Episcopal offers five levels of Latin and four of Greek. Latin is required in seventh and eighth grade and continues to Advanced Placement level in high school; Greek is taught in four levels from ninth through twelfth grade.
