Fairfield University invites applications for an approved tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Classical Studies in the Department of History. We seek an Ancient Historian (specialization open) to teach survey courses in Greek and Roman Civilization, advanced ancient history courses, and occasional Latin and/or Greek text courses. The successful candidate will participate in Fairfield's Classical Studies interdisciplinary program drawing on faculty from several departments including language and literature, art and archaeology, history, and philosophy. In addition, many courses in Classical Studies satisfy our core curriculum requirements. An earned Ph.D., active research program, and commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching are required. Interest in issues of social and cultural diversity desirable.
