FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY – TALLAHASSEE, FL

The Department of Classics at the Florida State University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the level of assistant professor in Latin prose and Roman history of the republican period. We seek a candidate with broad interests and a demonstrated commitment to research excellence who will complement and extend the specialties of the current faculty, particularly in the development of innovative courses; candidates with an expertise in law, religion, rhetoric or philosophy are especially welcome.

This is a tenure-earning position which will begin in August 2013. Ph.D. must be in hand by July 1, 2013 (this is demanded by the University and is not negotiable). Salary is competitive. 2/2 teaching assignment includes both graduate level teaching and at least one undergraduate course with broad appeal to non-majors.
