POSITION ONE: The Department of Classics at Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Classics, beginning Fall 2007. This is a definite position. The successful candidate must be able to teach Greek and Latin at all levels and a course in classical mythology. Expertise in ancient religion is desirable. Teaching load is 3/2 and may include participation in the College's general education requirement, "Foundations," and our First-Year Seminar program. Ph.D. preferred; teaching experience required. Position is renewable for one year on evidence of good teaching and continued administrative approval. Ph.D. preferred; teaching experience required. The Department of Classics seeks to fill a tenure-track position in Classical Archaeology at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall, 2007. Our preference is to hire an individual who specializes in Italian archaeology; the successful applicant must be able to help lead our field school program at the Etruscan site of Poggio Colla. Ph.D. must be in hand at time of application; college teaching experience and evidence of a commitment to fostering the continuing development of an outstanding Classics program are essential. Demonstration of potential for productive scholarship crucial. In addition to Greek and Roman archaeology at the introductory and seminar level, teaching responsibilities include Latin at all levels. All faculty at Franklin & Marshall teach in our First Year Seminar program and the Foundations component of the General Education curriculum. Course load is 3/2.
