The Friedrich-Schiller University of Jena Faculty of Arts and Humanities is pleased to offer the following position: Professorship (W3) Ancient History.

The successful candidate is expected to teach and act as researcher in the entire field of Ancient History. Cooperation within the newly established Centre of Ancient and Medieval Studies as well as with other groups and/or with researchers in related subject areas of the university and other institutions is expected.

A doctoral degree and a postdoctoral lecture qualification(Habilitation) or equivalent scholarly achievements as well as pedagogical aptitude is required. The Friedrich-Schiller University intends to increase the number of female staff members and encourages the application of qualified female scholars. If this is a candidate's first appointment as professor, the employment will begin on a temporary basis (tenure-track); exceptions are possible.
