Assistant Professor of Classics and Archaeology.

The Department of Classical and Semitic Languages and Literatures at the George Washington University seeks a classical archaeologist/classicist for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor specializing in the study of the ancient Mediterranean region. Teaching responsibilities: courses in classical archaeology, Greek, Latin, history, and civilizations of the classical world. Preference will be given to a classical archaeologist who can teach Greek and/or Latin at all levels.

Basic Qualifications: PhD in classical archaeology, classics, or related field; demonstrated teaching excellence and potential for strong record of scholarly publication; knowledge of one classical language at the advanced level and of the other at the intermediate or advanced level; experience in archaeological methods and fieldwork in the ancient Mediterranean region.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in teaching elementary Latin and/or Greek as well as upper level courses in those languages; also experience in teaching Introduction to Archaeology as well as upper level courses in classical archaeology.
