  1. Lecturer in Latin. The Department of Modern and Classical Languages anticipates hiring a Lecturer in Latin pending final budgetary authority. Ability to teach Ancient Greek is desirable. Teaching load is 4/4. The candidate has to be able to oversee student teachers in Latin. Ph.D. required. The Department of History at Georgia State University invites applications for an anticipated assistant or associate professor in the history of the Ancient World to begin August 2009, pending budgetary approval. Geographic / Thematic focus open, but Mediterranean / Near Eastern World expertise preferred. Ph.D. required by date of hire. Primary research interest should emphasize cross-cultural connections and must focus on the period before the end of Late Antiquity. Instructional responsibilities include a world survey course, a course on the Ancient Mediterranean, and undergraduate and graduate courses in area of specialization. The successful candidate will participate in the department's Program in World History and Cultures, and in GSU's cross-disciplinary programs.
