  1. (new 12/20/99) - ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN MODERN GREEK. The Department of the Classics at Harvard University seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor with competence in modern Greek language, literature, and culture. The appointment, which will be for an initial term of three years (with the possibility of renewal and the further possibility of promotion, including to tenure), will start in July, 2000. Candidates must have general competence in Greek language and literature from the medieval through the contemporary period, and will be expected to teach Modern Greek at all levels to both undergraduate and graduate students. May include some administrative duties. Completion of the Ph.D. prior to appointment is a requirement.
