Hood College invites applications for a tenure-track position in biblical studies and ancient art, beginning August 1999. The successful candidatewill hold a shared appointment in art history and religious studies. We thus seek a scholar of the ancient world (classical period to late antiquity) who is prepared to teach some combination of the following: ancient art, archaeology, intruduction to art history, Hebrew scriptures, New Testament, Judaism, and Islam. Applicants must hold--or be nearing completion of--a doctorate in classics, religious studies, art history, archaeology, or other appropriate discipline; they must also have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and give convincing evidence of scholarly achievement or promise. Regularly ranked by U.S. News and World Report among the foremost colleges in the north, Hood is a selective, independent, liberal arts college for women. Its campus is located 40 miles from both Baltimore and Washington, DC.
