HOWARD UNIVERSITY – WASHINGTON, DC
The Department of Classics, one of four Departments within the Division of the Humanities in the College of Arts and Sciences, is seeking to make a senior, tenured appointment, effective August 16, 2012. The candidate is expected to have a doctorate and a publication record in Classics or a related field, and an ability to teach both Greek and Latin. Other teaching responsibilities may include introductory level courses in the Humanities. The successful candidate will also be expected to work effectively with colleagues to advance research and publication on the ancient Mediterranean World and to develop innovative ways for students to learn about the subject. The candidate will also contribute to interdisciplinary teaching and research initiatives in the College and other academic units of the University. Salary will be competitive and will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Please send a letter of interest and a c.v. by December 15 to Dr. Rudolph Hock, Chair of the Department of Classics, Howard University, Washington, D.C. 20059.
