Ancient History/Latin Search

Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington, IL, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Ancient History/Latin, beginning August, 2013. Ph.D. in ancient history with an MA in Latin preferred. Must possess a broad competence in ancient history with a specialization in Roman history and the ability to teach Latin at all levels. We are also particularly interested in candidates who can teach in at least two of the following areas: Greece and the Near East, Roman art and archaeology and Late Antiquity. The position will be housed in the History Department but will also have substantial obligations in the Greek and Roman Studies Program. Teaching load is 6 courses per year to include 4 courses in ancient history (including both Roman and Greek history) and two Latin language courses.
