Ancient History. Tenure track position, pending approval, at the level of assistant professor. Ph.D. (preferably in history) should be in hand at beginning of appointment. Must possess a broad competence in ancient history with a specialization in Roman history and the ability to teach in at least two of the following areas: ancient Near East, Greece, Egypt, Mediterranean archaeology, and/or medieval Europe. The position will be housed in the history department but will also have substantial obligations in the Greek and Roman Studies Program. Teaching load is 6 courses per year to include: 4 courses in ancient history and 2 Latin courses; every other year one history course will be replaced by "Humanities 101: The Ancient World." The department will be interviewing candidates at AHA in Chicago.
