Clinical Assistant Professor of Archaeology

The Institute for the Study of the Ancient World, New York University, seeks to appoint a Clinical Assistant Professor of Archaeology. The appointee will direct the fall semester of NYU’s Program in Archaeology and History in Egypt (see www.amheida.org for details) and serve as field director of the excavations at Amheida for a four-week fall season. In the spring term, the appointee will teach two courses at NYU in an appropriate department.

Candidates should have completed the doctorate in a relevant field (Archaeology, Art History, Egyptology, or Classical Studies) and have at least four years’ field experience in Egypt, including serving as a field director. They should also have teaching experience in one of the fields specified. Preference will be given to candidates specializing in the Graeco-Roman and Late Antique periods.

This position is non-tenure-track but, subject to sufficient enrollment in the program, eligible for indefinite renewal and promotion upon review.
