Assistant Professor of Classics. Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Classics to begin August 1999. A Ph.D. in Classics is required by date of hire. Potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate (through Latin MA) teaching plus a research program leading to published scholarship. Preference will be given to candidates who are especially qualified to teach a wide range of courses in Classics (e.g. Roman history-civilization, art-archaeology, etymology) and Latin (all levels). Assistant Professor, Foreign Language Pedagogy. Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Foreign/Second Language Pedagogy, to begin August 1999. Ph.D. in a foreign anguage, Foreign Language Pedagogy, Applied Linguistics or related area by date of hire. Three years K-12 teaching or certification highly desirable. Potential for excellence in teaching and research is essential, plus native or near native proficiency in English and target (if spoken) language. Teaching duties include: core courses in Language Pedagogy MA program, undergraduate methods courses, instructional technology. Research interests in Foreign/Second Language Pedagogy or Second Language Acquisition preferred. Ability to work within a multi-language department with growing translation and pedagogy programs at the BA, BS, and MA levels is essential.
