Joint Appointment in Classics and The Integrated Program In Humane Studies (IPHS). Kenyon College seeks to make a joint appointment in Classics (including Ancient History) and IPHS. This is a definite tenure-track position with initial appointment of three years, beginning July 1, 2002.

The primary research interest of applicants should be Ancient Greek and/or Roman History. The successful applicant will be competent to teach Greek and Latin languages at all levels. Through 2006, position will entail teaching half-time in Classics and half-time in IPHS' year-long Odyssey of the West course, a textually oriented course involving works ranging from classical antiquity through modern period. After 2006, position will be full-time in Classics. Interest in such related fields as mythology, archaeology, religion, philosophy, gender studies, or another specialty is welcome. Applicants should hold the Ph.D. by June, 2002 and be able to document effectiveness as a teacher. Teaching load is 3:2.
