LAFAYETTE COLLEGE – EASTON, PA
The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Lafayette College, Easton, Pennsylvania, is seeking to hire an Assistant or Associate Professor of Classical Studies, to begin in the academic year 2008-2009 (late August 2008). The position is tenure-track. Applicants for Assistant Professor must hold the Ph.D. in Classics or be in the final stage of its preparation. An applicant appointed as Associate Professor may be offered tenure upon beginning. Teaching responsibilities include Greek and Latin language, elementary to advanced; classical literature in the original and in translation; classical civilization; and classical mythology. The applicant appointed should actively consider participation in interdisciplinary teaching from the perspective of Classics, including the Common Course of Study, especially the First Year Seminar. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The teaching load is 3-2. Research is generously supported.

Lafayette College, with a student body of 2200, is located in the eastern Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania, within easy access to the New York metropolitan area and to Philadelphia.
