The Department of Classics invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship from candidates specializing in the classical languages and ancient history. Candidates must have the Ph.D.; be thoroughly qualified to teach all levels of Greek and Latin, Greek and Roman history (in courses crosslisted with the history department), and classical civilization; be seriously committed to liberal arts education, a scholarly career, and excellence in teaching; and be enthusiastic about teaching Freshman Studies, a great books course required of all entering students. Teaching experience or expertise in mediaeval studies and/or ancient numismatics could be a plus.
