The Department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Sydney seeks to appoint a new Lecturer in Ancient History (equivalent to the North American Assistant Professor). The Department is seeking an applicant with an outstanding research profile in Ancient History, with a preference for Ancient Greek History.

As a Lecturer in Ancient History, you will contribute to and enhance the existing research strengths of the Department; pursue an active program of research that can attract external competitive funding; participate fully in the Department’s research culture; and undertake appropriate administrative roles and curriculum development as required.

You will teach or co-teach undergraduate units of study at all levels of the Ancient History Major, and it will be an advantage to be able to contribute from time to time to the other majors offered within the department, Latin and Greek. You will also supervise Honours and postgraduate students on a range of topics of departmental interest and need.
