The Classics department at Loyola College in Maryland announces a one-year position at the rank of Instructor ("Core faculty") for AY ë03-04 (with the possibility of renewal). Candidates should have an M.A. (or be A.B.D) in Classics, Classical Archaeology or Ancient History (with Ph.D. preferred). Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate Latin is strongly desired and the promise of such excellence is essential. The successful candidate will be expected to teach four introductory and/or intermediate Latin courses in the Fall semester, and two Latin courses in the Spring semester (with a possibility, depending on experience, of teaching Classics courses cross-listed in the English or History departments, or introductory Greek). The position carries a salary of $25,000 + benefits. There is the possibility that this one-year position will be upgraded to a 2-year position (at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor for candidates with the Ph.D., Instructor for candidates without the Ph.D.) The successful candidate for a 2-year position would teach 4 courses per semester at a salary of $32,000 + benefits.
