The Department of Classics and Archaeology at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA, invites applications for a tenure-track position (assistant professor level) in Latin language and literature. Field of specialization is open. Candidates must have completed the Ph.D. b the time of appointment (August 2005), be committed to undergraduate teaching, and show evidence of a serious commitment to research and publication. In addition to all levels of Latin language and literature, the candidate must be able to teach Classical Civilization courses in translation, such as mythology, epic, drama, etc., and should demonstrate proficiency in Greek language and literature as well. Letters of application should include a CV, three letters of recommendation, and evidence of competence in teaching (e.g., course syllabi, evaluations) and scholarship (e.g., articles or writing sample). The deadline for receipt of applications is November 15, 2004. Interviews will be held at the APA Annual meeting in Boston, MA, in January 2005.
