The Department of Classical Studies invites applications for a one-year position, with the possibility of renewal, at the level of Visiting Assistant Professor, for the 1999-2000 academic year. The person filling this position should be a generalist with a specialty in Classical archaeology. The Ph.D. must be in hand by the time the appointment begins (August 1999). Clear evidence of scholarly potential and excellence in teaching is essential. Candidates should be prepared to teach courses in Classical literature and society and to contribute to our curricula in Greek and Latin language and literature. Loyola University offers undergraduate majors in Greek, Latin, and Classical Civilization, the M.A. in Greek and in Latin, and the Ph.D. in Classical Studies. The department also has a significant commitment to the undergraduate Core Curriculum.
