Assistant Professor of Classics - The Classics Department at Macalester College is seeking to fill a full time tenure track position. The appointment will be made at the Assistant Professor rank. Macalester's Classics department is an active and growing department with a reputation for good teaching and scholarship. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate strengths in both of these vital areas. The department requires a generalist who can teach both Greek and Latin languages, and have experience or background in Greek and Roman literature and history courses. The candidate's specialization and teaching interest may be open, but a demonstrated interest in any of the major textual traditions of the Greek or Roman world with additional interest in the material culture, architecture, art or iconography of the Greco-Roman world is desirable. The ideal candidate will be able to contribute to one or more of several interdisciplinary programs at the College such as Women and Gender Studies, Humanities and Cultural Studies, African-American Studies, Legal or Urban Studies. The candidate will also help coordinate the department's January in Rome program.
