The Department of Classical Studies at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2002. PhD required. The candidate should have broad training in Greek and Roman literature and a research specialty in Latin literature. Secondary specializations can be in Greek and Roman culture and society, gender studies, and classical connections with modern literature. The successful candidate will be expected to teach the full range of Latin courses and mythology, literature in translation, and ancient civilizations. Experience with interdisciplinary team-taught courses is highly desirable, since teaching in a multi-disciplinary humanities program will also be required. Evidence of excellence in teaching is essential, in particular a versatile competence in the discipline and a strong commitment to innovative and interactive teaching. Publications are highly desirable.
