POSITION ONE: Subject to budgetary approval, The Department of Classics at McMaster University invites applications for a 3-year contractually limited appointment in the area of Classical Archaeology at the Assistant Professor level to commence July 1, 2002.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Classical Archaeology or related discipline (research specialization open) and demonstrated excellence in research and teaching. The ability to teach courses in Greek and Latin is essential. The current minimum salary floor for Assistant Professor is $43,662.

POSITION TWO: The Department of Classics at McMaster University invites applications for a 12-month contractually limited appointment in the area of Greek Art and Archaeology at the Assistant Professor level to commence August 1, 2002.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Classics or the equivalent, with specialization in Greek art and archaeology and demonstrated excellence in research and teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in Greek art and archaeology, classical civilization, and intermediate level Greek. The current minimum salary floor for Assistant Professor is $43,662.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Classics or the equivalent, with specialization in Ancient Greek History and demonstrated excellence in research and teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in ancient history, and to contribute to the department's graduate program; the ability to teach courses in Greek and Latin is essential. An ability to teach an undergraduate course in non-Graeco-Roman civilizations will be considered an advantage. The current minimum salary floor for an Assistant Professor is $43,662.
