Possibility for reappointment the following year. Ideally the position would include two courses for each of two semesters, but there is some flexibility possible in the terms of the appointment. The courses now scheduled include Beginning Latin, Classical Mythology, and Introduction to Roman Civilization, but there is some flexibility here too. Salary competitive. Miami's Classics Department teaches a broad spectrum of undergraduate courses in Greek and Roman language, literature, and civilization. We seek a colleague who has an interest in teaching some of the courses in our curriculum and who has an active research agenda. Miami's Classics Department teaches a broad spectrum of undergraduate courses in Greek and Roman language, literature, and civilization. We seek a colleague with a significant research agenda who has an interest in teaching some of the courses in our curriculum. We are primarily interested in candidates who can teach ancient art and civilization courses and who can help expand the department's offerings in the area of Archaeology. Ability to teach some Greek and/or Latin language courses very desirable. Ph.D. in Classics, Archaeology or related field must be completed by August 1, 2001 in order to be appointed at the Assistant Professor level. Salary competitive.
