Tenure-track Assistant Professorship in General Humanities to begin January 1, 1999. Candidate will (1) teach undergraduate courses in (a) General Humanities, a culture and ideas program with broad interdisciplinary ties to classical studies and to other humanities fields, (b) the University Honors Program, where the department staffs several sections of Ancient/Medieval and Renaissance/Modern Great Books and Ideas each year, and (c) Greek language and literature; (2) serve as discipline-specific technical expert to develop and enhance computer assisted instruction and Internet teaching resources both in the General Humanities program and in the wider context of a Humanities Resource Center serving New Jersey public school teachers. Very extensive facility with computers and other electronic tools for teaching and research in the humanities is essential, as is background in the history of ideas and cultural studies.
