The Department of Classics and General Humanities will appoint a tenure-track Assistant Professor, effective September 1, 2004, with scholarly and teaching interests in Latin language and literature and in mythology. Strength in interdisciplinary humanities study, especially in the classical tradition (e.g., transformations of classical myth in the medieval, Renaissance, and/or Modern periods), is very important. The successful candidate will teach courses in Latin at all levels, undergraduate Mythology, Honors Great Books and Ideas, and classical humanities topics courses for undergraduate majors and minors as well as for M.A. students. Required are the equivalent of two years of full-time teaching experience; potential for developing a strong record in teaching and scholarship, grant-seeking, and service to the university; and a completed Ph.D. by the time of appointment.
