NEW COLLEGE OF FLORIDA – SARASOTA, FL
Assistant Professor of Greek Language and Literature. New College of Florida, a public honors college, invites applications for a tenure-track position to begin August 2008. Successful applicant will work closely with Latinist colleague to offer a comprehensive program in classical studies that will interest a broad spectrum of liberal arts students.

Teaching load four courses per year (2/semester), plus tutorials, independent study projects, and senior theses. Teaching responsibilities include all levels of Greek language and courses of the candidate's devising in classical literature, Greek and Roman civilization, and/or the classical tradition.

Candidates should show evidence of scholarship and commitment to language teaching. New College encourages its faculty to model the process of research for its students, and to design classes that reflect a faculty member's expertise and special interests. Interdisciplinary, multicultural, and innovative approaches to teaching are strongly encouraged. Ph.D. in hand or dissertation completed by date of appointment. Salary competitive.
