NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY – EVANSTON, IL
The Department of Classics at Northwestern University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship, beginning September 2007. Ph.D. should be completed by the start date. Candidates must demonstrate broad and innovative intellectual interests, outstanding scholarly abilities and commitment to teaching. We are particularly interested in scholars specializing in ancient philosophy, Latin literature or Roman history. The successful candidate will be able to contribute to the department's cross-disciplinary faculty collaborations for graduate education (preferably in ancient philosophy) and help develop our undergraduate classics curriculum in imaginative ways. In addition to membership in the Department of Classics, the successful candidate will also be a core member of Northwestern's Classical Traditions Initiative (CTI), a multi-disciplinary forum for discussion of the cultures of antiquity and their reception.
