The Department of Classics at Northwestern University is seeking applications for a Mellon Post-doctoral Fellow (2004-5). The area of specialization is open. The appointment is from September 2004, for a period of two years. PhD must be completed by the start date.

We are seeking candidates with ambitious research interests and strong teaching abilities. The Mellon Fellow will be required to teach two quarter-long courses each year, allowing more time for the pursuit of research. The Fellow will be expected to attend departmental colloquia, and to present one colloquium each year. Fellows may also take part in the activities of Northwestern's Classical Traditions Initiative, the Center for the Humanities, and other Northwestern research centers and programs.
