NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY - EVANSTON, IL

#1 The Department of Classics at Northwestern University invites applications for an appointment as Lecturer in Greek and Latin, beginning September 2010. This is a one-year position. Pending performance and institutional need it may be renewed. The successful candidate must be able to teach Greek and Latin (at all levels), tutor, and contribute to a growing program. In addition to membership in the Department of Classics, the successful candidate will also be a member of Northwestern's Classical Traditions Initiative (CTI), a multi-disciplinary forum for discussion of the cultures of antiquity and their reception. A demonstrated interest in classical reception studies is a plus. Ph.D. required at the time of appointment. We will not interview at APA. AA/EOE. Northwestern University seeks to appoint two Mellon Postdoctoral Fellows in Medieval Studies for a two-year term (renewable for a third year) beginning September 2010. Applicants must have Ph.D. by September 15, 2010 and should have received the degree no earlier than 2008. Candidates who already hold tenure-track positions will not be considered. Both postdocs will join a thriving community of interdisciplinary medievalists.

#2 A position in any area of medieval Latin, 500-1500, will be held jointly with the Classics Department. The successful candidate will teach one undergraduate course per year and run a yearlong, non-credit workshop in Medieval Latin for graduate students.
