OCCIDENTAL COLLEGE – LOS ANGELES, CA
The English Department of Occidental College is seeking a classicist for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of assistant professor to begin Fall, 2005. This position has been approved by the College. Applicants should hold a PhD or be ABD when appointed. A thorough training in the languages and cultures of ancient Greece and Rome and familiarity with other ancient Mediterranean civilizations as they are represented in Greek and Latin texts from Homer to the New Testament is required; emphasis in gender studies, religion, anthropology, or multi-disciplinary approaches is desirable. A strong commitment to teaching and scholarship within a liberal arts context is essential.
