The Department of Greek and Latin seeks applications from Classicists for a one-year position as Senior Lecturer. The successful candidate must have all requirements for the PhD completed by September 1, 2008. Teaching duties will include teaching a variety of undergraduate courses in Greek and Latin Language and Literature and in Classical Humanities, (e.g. Classical Mythology, Greek Literature in Translation, Greek and Roman Civilization, Ancient Epic). Classes range from small language classes to large lectures (180+). Other duties include advising and counseling students and supervising Graduate Teaching Associates. POSITION ONE: The Department of Greek and Latin invites applications for a tenured position (associate or full professor level) in Greek literature, starting September 2008, with specialization in the literature of the Classical or Hellenistic periods. Teaching responsibilities will include a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses at all levels, including courses in the original language and courses in Classical literature in translation, mythology, and ancient societies and cultures; graduate student advising is important. POSITION TWO: The Department of Greek and Latin invites applications for a tenure-eligible position in Latin literature at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting September 2008, with specialization in the literature of the first and second centuries CE. The candidate must have the Ph.D. or be able to assure its completion by June 30, 2008. Promise in teaching and scholarship is essential. Teaching responsibilities will include a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses at all levels, including courses in the original languages and courses in Classical literature in translation, mythology, and ancient societies and cultures.
