One-Year Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics. The Humanities-Classics Department at Ohio Wesleyan University seeks a One-Year Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics for a faculty vacancy (academic year 2006 - 2007). Ph.D. required. In addition to teaching courses in elementary and advanced Latin and Greek, this person will be asked to teach some of the following: mythology and folklore, Classical archaeology, women in antiquity, and Greek literature in translation. The Department’s curriculum fosters cross-cultural exploration of values and writing about ideas. The successful candidate will teach six course units in the year plus several Directed Readings. The six course units of teaching (three per semester plus Directed Readings) will include existing Classics courses as appropriate to the successful candidate’s experience and interests in the Department’s offerings. Teaching experience is required.

With their cover letter, applicants are asked to submit a current curriculum vitae and a dossier that includes: a brief (20 page limit) writing sample, a sample syllabus for a Greek literature course or a comparative myth course, three letters of recommendation, and an official transcript.
