PACIFIC LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY – TACOMA, WA

Pacific Lutheran University invites applications for a three-year visitor position, with the possibility of renewal, in the Classics program at the assistant professor level beginning September 1, 2013. We seek candidates who are demonstrably excellent teachers with a promising research agenda and the ability to contribute to the Classics program’s development and ties with other units. Annual load is teaching six courses. Area of specialization is open, but candidates must be willing, capable, and prepared to fulfill the responsibilities of a generalist, teaching a range of courses in classical languages, literature, mythology, and civilization. Depending on abilities and interests, the successful candidate may also teach in PLU's interdisciplinary programs, International Honors, or First-Year Experience program. Candidates with a strong record of successful language teaching will be preferred. Ph.D. required. ABD will be considered, but Ph.D. must be in hand by September 1, 2013.

Applicants will be notified by November 26th as to whether to submit additional materials, and by December 14th as to whether they have been selected for interviews January 4-5 in Seattle at the APA/AIA. Interviewees will be notified by Wednesday, January 9th, and up to three candidates will be invited to interview on campus between February 6th and 23rd.
