GREEK LANGUAGE, CULTURE, AND THE NEAR EAST. The Department of Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking applications for a tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor level to teach ancient Greek language and culture, and the relations of Greek culture with the cultures of ancient Egypt and the Near East. Applicants must be able to teach ancient Greek at all levels, and should have research expertise in a field such as language, literature, history, or religion in one or more periods between the archaic age and late antiquity. Demonstration of excellence in teaching and scholarship is required. Ph.D. must be awarded by the time of appointment.
