The Department of Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies at The Pennsylvania State University seeks applicants for a tenure-track appointment in Greek language and literature at the assistant professor level, beginning August 2010. Applications are welcome from candidates with active research interests in any area or period of ancient Greek poetry or prose. Primary teaching responsibilities include Greek language and literature at the undergraduate and graduate levels and large lecture courses on Greek mythology and civilization. The successful candidate has the opportunity to take a leadership role in developing the strengths of Penn State’s Greek program. The department embraces the entire Mediterranean world in antiquity within its purview and therefore welcomes candidates who can contribute to dialogue across the fields of Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies. Requirements include Ph.D. completed by December 2009, teaching experience, and evidence of scholarly publication.
