The Department of Classics at the University of Virginia seeks applications to fill an Assistant Professor position on the Academic General Faculty (tenure-ineligible) to begin in the 2018-2019 academic year. Subject areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, introductory and intermediate Greek and Latin, Greek and Roman civilization, ancient drama, Roman historiography. The appointment will be for 3 years. The course load for a full-time position is three courses per semester with some administrative service to the department. Compensation will take the form of full-time salary with full-time benefits. Applicants must have completed all requirements for the PhD in Classics at the time of application. Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching. Applications will be considered beginning May 3, 2018.
