The Classics Programme at Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand) invites applications for the permanent position of Lecturer in Classics. At New Zealand universities, Lecturer is a permanent introductory position (comparable to a tenure-track assistant professorship in North America); lecturers are eligible for promotion through all academic ranks, including full Professor.

We seek a broadly trained classicist whose specialisation lies in the study of Roman culture. Specific interests may include history, historiography, literary studies, or material culture. The successful candidate must be able to teach Greek and Latin at all levels, lecture to undergraduates at every level of study on a range of topics, and supervise postgraduate research. We anticipate that the successful candidate will commence at Victoria in mid-year 2019.

Further information can be obtained from Simon Perris, Programme Director of Classics: simon.perris@vuw.ac.nz
