Position Title: Cassas Professor in Greek Studies
The Department of Classics at the University of Florida, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-accruing position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 16, 2019. The Center for Greek Studies, housed in the Department of Classics, proudly plays a leading role in the preservation of the Hellenic heritage of Florida, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to this important goal with innovative courses in Modern Greek literature and culture, and outreach work in the Greek-American communities of Florida. Willingness to undertake a leading role in the activities of the Center for Greek Studies is important for this position. The successful candidate should also have a substantial research record in Ancient Greek language and literature and will be involved at all levels of curriculum development and teaching (undergraduate, graduate and distance learning), including supervision of dissertations and participation in graduate committee activities and will be invited to contribute to the UF Quest initiative (http://undergrad.aa.ufl.edu/uf-quest/uf-quest-trials/). The teaching assignment for research faculty is two courses per semester.
The Department of Classics (http://classics.ufl.edu/) maintains robust undergraduate, graduate and distance learning programs, and excellent ties, with potential for interdisciplinary collaborations, with the Department of History, the Center for European Studies and the Center for Gender, Sexualities, and Women's Studies Research.

Qualifications
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Classics at the time of appointment. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes a full benefits package. In addition, the Cassas Professor receives an annual research and travel allowance in order to further his/her research program.
