Job Description:

The Louisiana State University Department of World Languages, Literatures, & Cultures invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure-track Instructor in Classics for academic year 2021–2022. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Classical Studies or a related discipline and be able to teach Latin, Greek, and Classical Civilization courses.

Teaching responsibilities will primarily include first-year and intermediate Latin and Civilization courses, but there may be an opportunity to teach a course on a topic of your choosing. The area of specialty is open, but we would be particularly interested in a candidate whose teaching strengths complement those of our current faculty.

The appointment is 12 hours in the Fall term and 12 hours in the Spring term. (Our first-year language courses are 4 hours, and all other courses are 3 hours.)

Because our department is committed to creating and maintaining a learning environment that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion, we especially seek instructors from traditionally underrepresented groups.

Special Instructions:

Applications must include a CV, cover letter discussing teaching interests and evidence of experience and excellence in teaching. Applicants should arrange for three letters of recommendation to be emailed to Kris Fletcher (kfletc8@lsu.edu).

A copy of your transcripts(s) may be attached to your application (if available). However, original transcripts are required prior to hire. Apply here: https://lsu.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/LSU/job/0316-Campbell-B-Hodges-Hall/Instructor---Classics_R00054776
