The Department of Greek and Latin at The Catholic University of America has received administrative approval to fill a full-time, tenure-track position in Classical and Medieval Latin at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin in August 2017.
The Department of Classics at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for the A. W. Mellon Professorship in Classics; the appointment will begin on September 1, 2017 (pending budgetary approval). The Mellon Professorship is a tenured position at the rank of Full Professor and is open to individuals who are at the rank of tenured associate or full professor.
The Classics Department at the University at Buffalo has been authorized to hire a specialist in Roman Archaeology, effective August 24, 2017. The position will be at the assistant professor rank and will be tenure track. The department is seeking a teacher and researcher with a special interest in the archaeology of Roman Italy and the Roman Western Mediterranean. The successful candidate should have an active program of field research in those areas and must hold a PhD in an appropriate discipline at the time of appointment.
DePaul University’s Department of Modern Languages seeks instructors for two Latin language courses for the autumn quarter and possibly more courses in the Winter and Spring. A Master’s degree or equivalent in Classics or a Classics-related field is required. Required documents are a CV and a Cover Letter. The intermediate and beginning Latin classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays 9:40-11:10am and 1:00-2:30pm respectively.
The Department of Classics at Brown University announces a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful applicant will have demonstrated research interests in the Latin and/or Greek literature of the first through the third centuries C. E. inclusive. We understand "literature" to embody a wide range of registers and traditions. In this respect, the successful candidate will complement and extend the research range of current Brown faculty.
The Department of Classics at Princeton University announces a position in ancient Greek language and literature to begin in Fall 2017. We seek to hire an assistant professor or a recently promoted associate or full professor. The current course load at Princeton is two courses per semester.
Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a full-time joint position in the Department of Classics and the Department of Art History and Archaeology at the rank of assistant (tenure-track) or associate (tenured) professor, with a specialty in Classical Archaeology. The successful candidate must have a PhD in a relevant field in hand by July 1, 2017 and must show strong promise of scholarly achievement and the ability to make significant contributions to the graduate and undergraduate programs of both of these vibrant and growing departments.
Resident Instructor for 2017-2018, August through May. Candidates must have good knowledge of Ancient Rome and Greek and Roman Italy, be interested in teaching undergraduates, and be willing to participate in a team-taught course combining archaeology, history, topography, literature and epigraphy. They also must be able to teach either intermediate or advanced-level Greek or intermediate or advanced-level Latin. Candidates are usually at the A.B.D. stage of their graduate work.
