The Onassis Foundation USA is committed to the promotion of Hellenic culture. By cooperating with educational and cultural institutions in Greece and throughout the Americas, the Onassis Foundation USA promotes knowledge and cultural relations. The mission of the Onassis Foundation USA is realized through two major initiatives. The Onassis Cultural Center New York presents art and archaeological exhibitions and a season of major cultural and artistic events focused primarily on the humanities and science.

The School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor appointment in digital humanities, broadly interpreted to embrace the humanistic social sciences. We are interested in exceptional scholars who make innovative, pioneering use of digital technologies to study textual, geographic, aural, visual, or spatial aspects of the humanities.

The Department of History and Classical Studies and the School of Religious Studies of McGill University invite applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in “Religions in the Greco-Roman World.” The successful applicant is expected to hold a relevant Ph.D. at time of appointment, to show promise of excellence in teaching and to have an innovative research portfolio. The successful applicant can expect to teach and develop courses in Ancient History, Biblical Studies, and Classics. The ability to teach ancient Greek and Koine Greek is essential.

Summary: The Department of Modern and Classical Languages at the University of San Francisco invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor to begin fall of 2017. The Department seeks candidates who specialize in Latin and Classical Studies; a secondary area of research and teaching is also desirable, though not mandatory. Modern and Classical Languages houses major and minor programs in a wide-range of literary and cultural traditions, including Chinese, Comparative Literature and Culture, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish.

The Department of Classics at the University of Mississippi (http://classics.olemiss.edu) invites applications for an approved tenure-track position in Roman Archaeology at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin in academic year 2017-2018 (starting date mid-August, 2017). A completed Ph.D. is required by the time of the appointment. Applicants should have teaching and research interests in Roman archaeology and culture and also be able to teach Latin at least through the intermediate level. Standard teaching load for this position is 3/3.

The Classics Department at Hamilton College invites applications for one or possibly two one-year positions at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor to begin on July 1, 2017. Applicants should have the Ph.D. in hand or be in the very last stages of completing the dissertation. They should display evidence of accomplished teaching and a record of scholarship or strong scholarly promise. Hamilton is a distinguished liberal arts college with very competitive salaries and a teaching load of five courses per year.

Assistant Professor of Classics

Applications should include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a recent writing sample (dissertation chapter, published paper, conference presentation, etc.), a statement of teaching philosophy and experience and evidence of teaching excellence, materials related to prior museum experience, a statement of current and future research plans, and the names of three potential recommenders (letters of recommendation are not requested at this time). Applicants must have received a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline prior to assuming the appointment.
