The Department of Classics at Florida State University announces a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Latin Literature beginning August 2020. Initial appointment is for one calendar year, with automatic renewal for one additional year pending satisfactory completion of duties, for a total of two years maximum. In addition to engagement with the undergraduate and graduate students and participation in the research program of the Department, the duties of the position shall include teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses; the teaching load is two courses per term. The salary is set at $48,000.00 per annum; the position is eligible for health insurance. This position is open only to those who have received the Ph.D. after January 1, 2016; the Ph.D. must be in hand by July 1, 2020.

We seek an individual pursuing innovative research in Latin literature and its broader contexts, and who can also, if needed, teach Greek at the beginning and intermediate levels. The successful candidate will have a research program that complements those of existing faculty. The Scholar will have the opportunity to help in co-organizing a workshop, colloquium, or similar event during the tenure of the fellowship.
