The Department of Art History and Archaeology in Arts and Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis seeks a specialist in ancient Mediterranean art history and archaeology for a postdoctoral teaching fellowship (January 1 to June 30, 2022). This is a one-semester, sabbatical replacement position. Candidates should be prepared to teach courses at the undergraduate level in the art, material culture, and/or architecture of the ancient Mediterranean world, potentially including but not limited to Greece, Etruria, and Rome. Applications from candidates with research or teaching experience in trans-historical and cross-cultural topics are especially welcome. Duties will include teaching two courses and some service to the department. It is expected that the successful candidate will also participate in our lecture programs and workshops, interact with majors and graduate students in art history, and engage with a broad community of scholars across campus. The fellow will also pursue his/her research agenda throughout the term of the fellowship. The fellow is encouraged to use the strong local museum collections at both the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum and the Saint Louis Art Museum. Some teaching experience beyond the Teaching Assistant level, and scholarly publications are preferred.

Some funds for conference travel and moving expenses are included, as are benefits of the university postdoctoral fellowship program. PhD in hand by mid-January 2022 is required.
