  1. Specialization in the historical/comparative linguistics of Greek and Latin
  2. Specialization in Greek literature and culture.In both cases we are looking for colleagues with evidence of significant scholarship and a commitment to teaching from the introductory to the graduate level. Candidates should be prepared to teach general courses in classical languages and civilizations as well as more specialized courses in their field of expertise. The Department of Comparative Literature at Princeton University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship. Candidates should have strength in two languages in addition to English and special expertise in one of our five identified areas of intended development: Japanese literature, the classical tradition, "image and word", Caribbean and/or African literatures, or medieval studies. Excellence in teaching literature in a comparative context, a commitment to research and publication, and a Ph.D. in hand by September 2000 are required.
