The Department of Classical, Middle Eastern, and Asian Languages and Cultures has been authorized to make a tenure-track appointment in the Classics Program of an Assistant or Associate Professor in Latin Language and Literature with a special interest in ancient religion, to begin Fall 2012. Responsibilities will include teaching Latin at all levels, offering in-translation courses relevant to ancient religious practice or thought, working with colleagues in other programs within the department and interdepartmentally to enhance the offerings in religious studies, and generally participating in the program in Classical languages and cultures and in the College’s liberal arts curriculum.
Applicants should have proven experience and a demonstrated commitment to teaching Latin (elementary and advanced) and Classical Studies, as well as evidence of an active research program focused on an aspect of religion in the ancient Mediterranean world. Ph.D. must be in hand at time of application. Preference will be given to candidates with post-doctoral teaching experience and research.
