Reed College invites applications for a one-year appointment in Classics and Humanities beginning in the Fall semester of 1999 at the Assistant Professor level. Candidates should be broadly trained in the Greek and Latin languages and literatures and prepared to teach Greek and Latin at any level of the undergraduate Classics curriculum. The successful candidate will also participate in Reed's Freshman Humanities course, whose focus is Graeco Roman civilization. Reed College is a small, highly selective undergraduate institution with a strong emphasis on excellence in teaching. The appointee should either have the Ph.D. in hand when taking up the appointment or be near completion.
